The Fredericton Playhouse will come alive with the sound of music during Fredericton Frostival on Sunday, February 1 at 2 p.m. thanks to a special, interactive film screening of the Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music.

Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music is much more than a chance to see the most successful movie musical of all time on the big screen in magnificent Technicolor and glorious cinemascope; it’s also a major audience participation event!

Audience members are encouraged to get in character by donning a Sound of Music-inspired costume – nuns, goat herders and brown paper packages tied up with string are all welcome. This version includes subtitles for all the songs, so audience members can easily sing along with the cherished tunes from the beloved film.

As an extra special treat, Fredericton-based actor and director Shawn Henry will host the event, leading the audience in a vocal warm-up, and explaining all the interactive actions and gestures audience members will need to know.

Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music promises to be one of the funniest, most entertaining events you’ve ever experienced. This is your chance to sing along with Julie Andrews, dance in the gazebo with Liesl and snuggle up with Gretel for the earnest chorus of “My Favorite Things.”

Tickets for Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music are available through the Fredericton Playhouse box office at 458-8344 or online at www.theplayhouse.ca
