Can I visit the Playhouse during Orange phase? (and other frequently asked questions)

Here at the Fredericton Playhouse, we understand that it’s difficult to plan for upcoming live events while we’re still in the Orange phase of recovery. That’s why we want you to rest assured that the Playhouse team is doing all we can to reschedule shows where we need to and are keeping in contact with ticketholders. We don’t want the current restrictions to get you down though – stay home for now, but call us to book your tickets to an upcoming show and give yourself something to look forward to!

Read on for a few FAQs about what’s happening (and not happening!) at the Playhouse while we remain in Orange phase. You can also watch the video message from Tim Yerxa here.

Are there shows happening right now during Orange phase?

Given the restrictions during Orange phase, we are not able to host public events until we go back to Yellow phase. For now, we’re following the advice of Public Health and our staff are working away behind the scenes, waiting to welcome you back. Our box office remains open for ticketing and information, weekdays from 10am- 3pm; you can reach them at 458-8344.

Why are you scheduling shows and selling tickets then?

In a normal year, we have a full season’s worth of shows scheduled in advance, and despite the challenges of COVID-19, this year still requires planning ahead. If we waited until we were in Yellow phase to schedule shows, the artists and our team wouldn’t have enough time to properly plan the performance and sell tickets. We’re continuing to plan ahead and schedule events and as restrictions change, we’re rescheduling anything we can. To see a full list of what’s currently scheduled, [click here.]

What happens when a show is cancelled or rescheduled?

As soon as we find out that a show is rescheduled or cancelled, our Box Office staff will contact ticketholders to let them know. There is no penalty to ticketholders if we have to cancel or move a show; everyone will be given the option of either receiving a full refund or keeping their tickets for the new show date.

I’d rather just wait until we’re in Yellow before planning anything; I don’t want to waste my money

We understand that in these times it’s extremely difficult to plan for events! That’s why we want everyone to rest assured that at the Playhouse, the customer’s experience is at the centre of our work. Buying tickets in advance has no risk; if a show is cancelled or rescheduled then you will be offered a full refund (plus it gives you something to look forward to while we wait for Yellow phase to return!). If you need to return your tickets for any other reason, you are able to do so at any time up to 2 hours before the show and you will be offered a box office credit for the value of your tickets. We are working hard to maintain excellent health and safety protocols during these times so that everyone can enjoy shows safely, and are just as eager as you are to return to the theatre!

How will I find out if shows are happening?

All ticketholders will be notified as soon as possible by phone and/or e-mail in the event of any show changes. Upcoming shows are listed on the Playhouse’s Facebook page and website and will be updated accordingly.
