Coming to the Fredericton Playhouse directly from Barcelona, Spain on Wednesday, November 2 at 7:30 p.m., Las Migas is a quartet known for luminous music and heartfelt style.

This all-female musical group is a fascinating blend of flamenco and Mediterranean styles, combining classical and contemporary rhythms, and melodies that range from powerful to passionate to playful.

Each member of Las Migas hails from a different city in Spain, and each encompasses a different musical style, from Andalusian guitarists Marta Robles and Alicia Grillo, to the group’s two Catalans – vocalist Alba Carmona and violinist Roser Loscos. Together, they share a passion for flamenco music that can be heard in the rhythms of their guitarists, their dancing violin lines, and the raw power of their vocals.

Las Migas has filled large theatres and performed at numerous world music festivals, drawing crowds wherever they travel. Featuring choreography to accompany upbeat Latin rhythms, the quartet’s live show is full of sensuality and self-confidence, showcasing their exquisite emotional intensity.

In addition to this performance, the Playhouse will present a pre-show Experience More! Wines of Spain Tasting at Corked Wine Bar on November 2 at 6 p.m. This is an opportunity to learn about and sample a special selection of Spanish wines and regional cheeses, led by sommelier Chris MacDonald. Tickets for this event are available through the Playhouse box office.

Tickets for Las Migas are available through the Fredericton Playhouse box office by calling 458-8344 or online at www.theplayhouse.ca.
