25. Sci-Fi Double Feature

Coming to the Fredericton Playhouse on Saturday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m., Sci-Fi Double Feature by Ramshackle Theatre is an exciting, one-of-a-kind show.

Based out of a small studio in Yukon’s Boreal Forest, Ramshackle Theatre creates enchanting theatre pieces using the simplest of materials. Inspired by action-adventure B-movies from the 1960s, Sci-Fi Double Feature is a magical collision of puppetry and film, scored with an original soundtrack.

Presented in the Playhouse’s intimate backstage studio space, this true all-ages show features two fast-paced puppet shows captured live and simultaneously projected onto a big screen, linked by an original stop-motion animated film. Full of wit, anarchy and whimsy, Ramshackle Theatre provides a behind-the-scenes look at their clever puppetry, dynamic camera techniques and original sound effects for an experience unlike any other.

In addition to this performance, the Playhouse is pleased to present two Experience More! Science Fiction Shadow Puppetry workshops. The first, for ages 8 to 11, will take place at the Fredericton Public Library on Wednesday, April 6 at 2 p.m. Registration is required by calling 460-2806. The second, intended for ages 12 to 16, will take place at Fredericton Makerspace, 28 Saunders St., on Thursday, April 7 at 5 p.m. Registration is required by calling the box office at 458-8344. Participants will work with Ramshackle Theatre puppet masters to create a puppet, write a story and perform it.

Tickets for Sci-Fi Double Feature are available through the Fredericton Playhouse box office by calling 458-8344, or online at www.theplayhouse.ca.
