1. Whitehorse

Known for exceptional guitar playing, his and her harmonies and a flair for the dramatic, audiences will be blown away by electrifying duo Whitehorse, performing at the Playhouse on Thursday, October 15 at 7:30 p.m.

Formed in 2010 by husband and wife musicians Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland, Whitehorse is larger than life when performing on stage. This Polaris Prize-nominated act presents a full-band sound, using live loops, complex layers of percussion, and swapping guitars left, right and centre. Together, Doucet and McClelland combine mesmerizing guitar work and smoldering vocal chemistry for an unforgettable show.

In 2014 Whitehorse released a francophone EP, which included translated tracks from their album The Fate of the World Depends on this Kiss. On their latest release, No Bridge Left Unburned, Whitehorse sings about everything from the American south, to the urban/suburban divide, to the story of a couple sent to Mars. Whatever the subject, Whitehorse brings an incredible intimacy and passion to their music.

Opening for Whitehorse is Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist Terra Lightfoot. Known for crafting songs that tap into raw emotions, Lightfoot has performed around the world with the likes of Emmylou Harris, Ron Sexsmith, the Sadies and more. Her powerful voice commands attention, whether she’s performing slow-burning soul ballads or hard-charging rock numbers.

The Playhouse also invites ticketholders to join us prior to the show at 6:30 p.m. for a beer-tasting. Picaroons will be on hand with a variety of beer to sample during this special event.

Tickets for Whitehorse are available through the Fredericton Playhouse box office at 458-8344 or online at
