Beloved children’s entertainer Fred Penner engages multiple generations of Canadians

On Sunday, March 29 at 2 p.m., The Fredericton Playhouse Kidstage Series is pleased to present beloved Juno-winning Canadian entertainer Fred Penner.

Penner brings 25 years of commitment, consistency and depth to a career that skillfully blends a number of performing genres. His diverse repertoire includes 12 children’s albums and countless packed shows across North America.

Thanks to his much-loved television show, Fred Penner’s Place, which aired for 12 years beginning in 1985, and his subsequent touring engagements, Penner has been a household name and a childhood icon for multiple generations of Canadians. Known for his engaging songs like “The Cat Came Back,” Penner remains a leading entertainer in Canada, appealing to children and adults alike.

After taking a break from touring to score music for other family television shows, Penner recently recorded his first album in nearly a decade, Where in the World. Nominated for a Juno Award in 2015, the album continues to share positive messages for children.

Penner is a member of the Order of Canada thanks to his dedication to entertaining and educating young audiences. His work has been recognized with two Juno Award wins and four Parents’ Choice Awards.

From the small screen to the live stage, from writing songs to composing scores, Penner’s combination of warmth, ease, enthusiasm and grace has inspired confidence and joy in audiences around the world.
