Get into the holiday spirit with festive shows at the Fredericton Playhouse

by on November 17, 2014

This holiday season, the Fredericton Playhouse is pleased to host a series of shows that are sure to put you in a festive mood! Join us through the months of November and December for a wide range of music, dance and theatre performances full of holiday spirit and cheer.

Fans of beautiful Christmas music won’t want to miss Cherish the Ladies. This Irish powerhouse group will captivate audiences with A Celtic Christmas, an evening of classic Christmas carols, highlighted by unique Celtic instrumentation, beautiful harmonies and world-class Irish step-dancing on November 21. Then, coming up after Fredericton’s own Measha Brueggergosman’s sold-out holiday concert on December 4, check out the always fun and lively New Brunswick Country Showcase Annual Christmas Show on December 14.

Audiences seeking traditional Christmas performances will be moved by Dance Fredericton’s presentation of The Nutcracker on November 29 and 30. This full-length ballet features two guest soloists from Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company, while showcasing original choreography, elaborate costuming and a classical score by Tchaikovsky. And from December 11 to 13, Theatre New Brunswick puts a new spin on a classic tale with a presentation of The Christmas Carol. This new musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ beloved holiday story comes from two of New Brunswick’s most celebrated theatre artists – Michael Doherty and Caleb Marshall.

Families looking to spend quality time together in the days between Christmas and New Year’s Eve will be delighted with annual favourite DuffleBag Theatre, this year bringing the timeless tale of Peter Pan to life on December 28. Featuring lots of hilarious twists, this fractured fairy tale is full of spontaneous fun and audience involvement.

Tickets for holiday performances at the Fredericton Playhouse are available at the Playhouse box office at 458-8344 or online at
