Bouge de là: The Studio transports audiences to a world full of fun, creativity and colour
Contemporary dance troupe Bouge de là’s piece The Studio/L’atelier is the perfect way to introduce young audiences to the world of dance. Coming to the Fredericton Playhouse on Sunday, April 6 at 2 p.m., this performance will captivate children and adults alike.
Created by choreographer Hélène Langevin, this show combines dance with visual arts, incorporating movements like Expressionism and Pop Art for a show that’s full of fun, innovation and colour.
Onstage is an artist’s studio. This space for invention and creativity is full of surprises. It is a place where ideas burst forth, blending together and taking off in all directions. The four dancers treat the studio as a magical treasure chest, playing with everything they find. Paintings spring to life before our eyes, turning into enchanting dance and movement in an ebb and flow that is driven by the whims and imagination of the performers, who joyously plunge into a universe of their own making.
This performance also includes a video component, as some of the dancers’ motions are filmed, immediately processed and transformed by means of image capture software, and then projected as a live onstage broadcast. The video provides a different view of what is happening onstage, making it an integral part of the performance, which offers a vibrant mingling of dance, painting and the visual arts.
The Studio is an ode to the creative spirit that lies in each of us, exploring colours, line and movement, and transporting young audiences into an enchanting world that stimulates their senses, inherent performing ability and curiosity.
The Playhouse is also offering an Experience More! workshop immediately after the show on April 6. Families are invited to join the dancers from Bouge de là for an on-stage workshop, a 25-minute physical response to the performers. This event is designed for family involvement, and ticketholders can register by contacting the box office.
Tickets for Bouge de là: The Studio/L’atelier are available through the Playhouse box office 1-866-884-5800, or online at www.theplayhouse.ca.
