by on February 28, 2014

Professional storyteller Donna Washington will inspire and excite audiences of all ages when she performs at the Fredericton Playhouse on Sunday, March 16 at 2 p.m.

Washington’s shows are captivating and dynamic storytelling performances. She uses vocal pyrotechnics, extreme facial expressions, participation and physicality to help stories manifest before the delighted eyes of audiences.

Growing up, Washington travelled all over the world with her parents, and learned about all kinds of stories, from Arthurian legends to Greek mythology, from her father. Washington’s unique childhood exposed her to many different people and places, and along the way she began her path as a storyteller. She has been performing for audiences of all ages since she was six years old.

Washington began exploring her love of storytelling in greater depth after getting involved in theatrical productions at Illinois’ Northwestern University. During her career, Washington has written several critically acclaimed books for kids and has performed at thousands of schools, libraries and storytelling festivals. She is also a multiple-award-winning recording artist.

In addition to her performance at the Playhouse, Washington will lead an Experience More! event called I Remember When. This storytelling performance for seniors will take place at the Stepping Stone Senior’s Centre on Monday, March 17 at 2 p.m. Washington will take participants on a journey through memory with her enchanting and engaging stories.

Tickets for Donna Washington are available through the Playhouse box office 1-866-884-5800, or online at
