From Farm Collapsing by Katie Belcher

Connexion Artist-run Centre is excited to exhibit new work by Fredericton artist Joss Richer at the NNEX Gallery at the Playhouse, alongside a new body of work by Halifax-based artist Katie Belcher.

Belcher’s Farm Collapsing, in the east wing of the gallery, was developed during residencies in Paris and in rural Spain in 2013. Using a repeated drawing and erasing process, these large-scale drawings explore the build up and erosion of memory.

In the west wing of the gallery, Richer’s Esquisses project furthers his exploration of reductive, time-based processes. Adding and subsequently wearing away material from each surface, and asking some drawings to “fend for themselves” out in the cold winter rain, each object opens up a different point of departure.

The exhibition will run from November 21 – January 14, 2014. Please join us for a closing reception on Friday, January 10, from 5 – 6:45 p.m. Both artists will be present.

NNEX Gallery is Connexion’s off-site project space, located in the Fredericton Playhouse at 686 Queen St., in downtown Fredericton. Exhibitions are made possible through the support of the Fredericton Playhouse, the Province of New Brunswick, and the Canada Council for the Arts.

For further information on the artwork or exhibition, please contact Connexion’s Executive Director, John Edward Cushnie, or Associate Director, Sophia Bartholomew at, or NNEX Gallery Coordinator Shayna Gill at
