by on November 28, 2013

Cape Breton-based siblings and multi-award winning band the Barra MacNeils return to the Fredericton Playhouse on Friday, December 13 at 7:30 p.m. for one of their famous holiday shows.

As a group, the six MacNeil siblings are widely regarded as one of the greatest live concert acts in the Celtic world. The family group is deeply rooted in Celtic music, culture, dance, language and history. Their numerous critically acclaimed recordings have included their own original songs as well as tried and true standards, both instrumental and vocal.

The Barra MacNeils live concert experience provides a journey through an ancient culture; this is family entertainment at its highest level. The group acts as Canada’s Celtic ambassadors, and continues to perform to sold-out audiences throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, the United Kingdom and Europe.

For this Christmas performance, in addition to beautiful vocal harmonies, audiences will hear the bodhran, fiddle, Celtic harp, mandolin, tin whistle, accordion keyboards, bazouki, guitar and ullian pipes, all masterfully played.

All of this incredible musical talent will be combined with colourful yarns, storytelling, and the unique dynamism for which the Barra MacNeils are known. This is a holiday concert that will truly lift the spirit.

Tickets for the Barra MacNeils are available at the Fredericton Playhouse box office 1-866-884-5800, or online at
