The Fredericton Chamber Orchestra is breathing new life into Peter and the Wolf with a special performance at the Fredericton Playhouse on Saturday, November 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Originally composed in 1936, each character in Peter and the Wolf is represented by a particular instrument and musical theme. Sergei Prokofiev’s musical symphony for children will be beautifully performed by the Fredericton Chamber Orchestra, with narration provided by Norm Foster, Canada’s most produced playwright.

The Fredericton Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Richard Hornsby, has been giving concerts regularly in Fredericton since 1976. Orchestra members – a blend of accomplished amateur and professional musicians – will present an interpretation of this timeless classic that is certain to awaken and stir the imagination of patrons of all ages.

This unique concert experience will conclude with a variety of holiday classics featuring the vocal talents of Tania Breen and Shawn Henry.

The Playhouse is pleased to provide a Peter and the Wolf Instrument Petting Zoo to accompany the Fredericton Chamber Orchestra performance. On Saturday, November 23 at 10:30 a.m., the public is invited to join players from the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra at the Fredericton Public Library as they introduce the sounds and characters from the much loved story of Peter and the Wolf, followed by an instrument creation activity with the Fredericton Public Library.

This free, non-ticketed event will take place in the library’s new music room, called WildWood. The instrument petting zoo is presented in partnership with the Fredericton Public Library and Long & McQuade.

Tickets for Peter and the Wolf are available at the Fredericton Playhouse box office 1-866-884-5800, or online at www.theplayhouse.ca
