The Story of Swan Lake: Music and Narration

Join us for the narrated version of Swan Lake by Kate Rogers, accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s beautiful musical score on piano performed by Jeremy Van Slyke.  In anticipation of Ballet Jörgen Canada’s performance of Swan Lake, come and learn the story of Prince Seigfried, his beautiful princess, a swan, and a spell by an evil magician that only the Prince’s love can break. Sure to delight ballet and storytelling lovers alike.

Jeremy VanSlyke is a Montreal and New Brunswick-based recording engineer and producer who specializes in classical, jazz and folk music. His productions have received nominations at the East Coast Music Awards and JUNO Awards. An accomplished violinist and a piano performance graduate of Toronto’s Royal Conservatory of Music and Montreal’s McGill University, he is completing a masters’ degree within McGill’s prestigious Sound Recording program.

Kate Rogers is a life-long Fredericton resident with deep family, professional, and volunteer roots in the community. A graduate of UNB’s Masters in Political Science program, Kate served as the Executive Director of the NB Crafts Council, worked as an arts consultant for various non-profit, municipal and provincial organizations and now sits as a Fredericton city councillor. Kate is also a singer and certified Kindermusik instructor.
