Guitarists unite!

by on March 26, 2013

27_MGTCGTOn Sunday, April 14 The Fredericton Playhouse will welcome six virtuoso guitarists from four countries (Japan, Canada, Belgium and the United States) whose 40 years of combined performing experience has turned into one phenomenal six-by-six-string ensemble. In a pleasantly surprising sound sensation, California Guitar Trio’s steel-stringed guitars blend naturally with Montreal Guitar Trio’s nylon-stringed guitars, as each trio’s fret boards chase the other’s original compositions and new arrangements of progressive rock, world, jazz and classical music.

The two groups decided to link their passion and their talent in order to create a great evening of guitar. They’ll tackle the music of legendary groups such as Queen, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and even some of the famous spaghetti western sounds of Sergio Leone, including several original compositions of the members of MG3 and CGT.

Inspired in 2009 by an impromptu studio session together in Montreal, CGT and MG3 have proceeded to release a live recording (2011), land showcases at numerous arts presenter conferences, and sustain frequent co-bill touring throughout North America; from the Iridium in New York City, to Montreal Jazz Festival (twice), to Napa Valley Opera House, and ever-increasing points in between.

With a reputation and following that has them crisscrossing the globe, these incredible musicians are quickly becoming the hottest guitar ensembles in North America.

Tickets for Montreal Guitar Trio & California Guitar Trio are available at the Fredericton Playhouse box office 1-866-884-5800, or online at www.theplayhouse.ca.
