Get up close and personal…with a puppet.
Lynn Trefzger has made a career out of a childhood hobby, making a living as a successful ventriloquist and comedienne whose comical characters have garnered her a spot among the top people in her business. Named the 2006 Funniest Female Performer of the Year, by CAMPUS ACTIVITIES MAGAZINE and nominated 2007 Funniest Female by American Entertainment Magazine, her off-the-wall audience interplay is riotously funny.
Trefzger has received many awards and nominations throughout her career which include The American Comedy Awards, Variety Entertainer of the Year, and Comedy Entertainer of the Year by National Association of Campus Activities. In 2010, Lynn received the “People’s Choice Award” by the Ohio Arts Presenters Association.
What’s all the hype about? Well the proof is in the pudding. When Trefzger graces the Playhouse stage on March 14 at 7:30pm there will be no doubt as to why she’s a favourite among college campuses, cruise lines, and celebrities alike. A premier entertainer for Disney Cruise Lines, as well as Crystal and Norwegian Cruise Lines, she is also a favorite among many Celebrity Golf Classic Invitationals and the Atlantis Resort and Casino in Nassau, Bahamas. Lynn (and her many voices) has appeared on ABC, TNN, A&E, and Lifetime. She is also featured in a recently released comedy/documentary about the art of ventriloquism with Jay Johnson and Jeff Dunham called I’m No Dummy by NBC Universal.
Not only can you catch her performance at The Playhouse on March 14, but she will also join a lucky crowd of patrons post-show at The Beaverbrook Art Gallery for an intimate conversation with St. Thomas University Director of Drama, Ilkay Silk. And to make the conversation even more interesting, Trefzger will be joined by puppet Chloe.
And no one is more excited than Silk herself, “My dreams as a child were the following: to be a movie star, to be a ballerina, to own a sweet shop (candy store), to save all the animals and children in the world, and to be a ventriloquist! I am looking forward to learning all about the secrets of how to speak without moving my lips. Shari Lewis move over! I hope you can join us for the conversation!”
