The Bricklin Backstage

This week we unveil part three of The Bricklin Backstage – a series of podcasts produced by Jeremy VanSlyke that will bring audiences deeper into the Bricklin story. VanSlyke will talk to those who were part of the Bricklin saga in the 1970s, as well as those who are involved in the musical today.

In this week’s podcast, we’ll hear from people who got to check out the Bricklin SV-1 that will star in the Playhouse/TNB musical The Bricklin: An Automotive Fantasy which opens July 22.  The vehicle, which has spent the past few weeks touring the Fredericton area in advance of the musical, will soon return to the shop where final preparations will be made to get it ready for the stage.  For many folks, there are fond memories of the car.  For others, it is the business antics and government shenanigans that they remember best.  There is no question, the Bricklin is a beautiful car and, at 35 years old,  it still looks great.  This interview features former Bricklin employee, Bob Dewar; the sister of two former employees, Gary Berryman and Dawn Berryman as well as a current Bricklin owner, Phil Cronkhite.

Now you can subscribe to the entire “Bricklin Backstage” podcast series, including future episodes, at no charge on the iTunes Music Store.  Gotta have that funk?  You can also find the original cast recording featuring a full soundtrack of the musical on sale for just $9.99 and get into the tunes before the show!

The Bricklin: An Automotive Fantasy opens Friday, July 22 and runs until Sunday, August 7. Show times will be Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30pm, and Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are now on sale through the Fredericton Playhouse box office and the official Bricklin website
Take a look at our Bricklin TV spot on the official Fredericton Playhouse YouTube channel and get your tickets before they’re gone!
Next week we’ll talk with Tim Yerxa, Executive Director of the Playhouse in “The Bricklin Backstage Part 4: We Want the Bricklin!”
