Bricklin cast recording now available online!

by on June 8, 2011

Gotta have that funk? Now you can download the original cast recording of The Bricklin: An Automotive Fantasy at www.cdbaby.com and get revved up before the hit musical returns to The Fredericton Playhouse stage on July 22. These 1970s funk-infused songs range from classic rock to pulsating disco, and tell the story of American promoter Malcolm Bricklin’s failed venture to produce his sexy namesake sports car in New Brunswick. With political intrigue, big dreams, and even bigger personalities, this homegrown musical story takes a lighthearted look at an iconic moment in Canadian history.

Since its sold-out run last season, Allen Cole and Paul Ledoux’s The Bricklin: An Automotive Fantasy has garnered national and international attention, bringing a piece of New Brunswick’s history to the headlines, and a brassy new musical to eager audiences in the provincial capital. Recorded and mixed by MasterTracks Recording Studio in Hanwell, and featuring the cast of the world premiere production, this album is an impressive achievement for a new Canadian work.

The Fredericton Playhouse and Theatre New Brunswick are incredibly excited to take the next step as co-producers in this orange odyssey’s journey by making the album available online. Playwrights Allen Cole and Paul Ledoux have created a stellar mix of catchy, upbeat, disco beats, and unique arrangements that harken back to the easy-listening tunes of the ’70s. The album will also be available at all performances of The Bricklin while quantities last.

The Bricklin: An Automotive Fantasy opens Friday, July 22 and runs until Sunday, August 7. Show times will be Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30pm, and Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are now on sale through the Fredericton Playhouse box office and the official Bricklin website www.bricklinmusical.ca.

Check out our Bricklin TV spot on the official Fredericton Playhouse YouTube channel and get your tickets before they’re gone!
