Celebrating our volunteers!

by on April 14, 2011

April 10-16 is National Volunteer Week, a week-long celebration whereby registered charities, not-for-profit organizations and volunteer centres pause to thank and recognize their hard working volunteers. Originally developed in 1943 as a volunteer recruitment effort to enlist women for wartime voluntary service, National Volunteer Week was revived in the 1960s and has since grown to engage volunteer-involving organizations from coast to coast.

The theme for National Volunteer Week 2011 is Volunteers: Passion. Action. Impact. That theme certainly rings true for The Fredericton Playhouse, whose volunteers constantly demonstrate their passion for the arts and their community through their commitment to The Playhouse, its patrons, partners, and staff.

The Fredericton Playhouse is a volunteer directed, charitable organization that boasts a total of 50 active volunteers who are key to the daily operations of the organization, and who have served over 4200 volunteer hours so far this season. The Playhouse would like to recognize the commitment and dedication of those individuals who strive to make our patrons’ experience an enjoyable one, and to thank them for their tireless efforts in making The Playhouse an important part of our community.

We would also like to take the opportunity this year to recognize a few Long Service Award recipients. Among them are Anne Guimond, who recently received her 5 year certificate of service, as well as Anne Doyle and Leslie McDougall who are each celebrating 15 years of incredible volunteer service with the venue. Of special note are Longtime Volunteers Elaine Mercer and Lynda Johnston, who have served 23 years and 22 years respectively.

The Fredericton Playhouse wishes to extend its sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all of our volunteers for your invaluable contribution to the organization and to your community!
