Discover a universe of powerful music, exciting dance, and outstanding melodies when Spotlight on Tango comes to The Fredericton Playhouse on Thursday, April 7 at 8pm. The amazing choreography and colourful lighting design alone will illustrate an explosion of emotions on stage. In this new production with distinctive arrangements, refined lyrics, and captivating dances, Spotlight on Tango introduces the audience to the tango of the 21st century. Featuring the immense talent of fourteen artists with unique expertise, they are revisiting the rich tango repertoire, setting forth a new vision on the international tango scene.

In this new production, Romulo Larrea puts into the forefront the extraordinary possibilities of the genre. Discover the key players that made tango an art form; the ones that have vigorously imposed their artistic talent and left their mark in this challenging century old tradition. Composers such as Piazzolla, Troilo, Salgán, Mores, Federico, and Plaza played a fundamental role in the history of the tango. Alongside these pillars of the tango, enjoy the work of the great Carlos Gardel, witness and participant of a golden moment in the history of tango. Uncover their world of music, dance, and culture while enjoying a captivating journey into the heart of a century old tradition!

And on Wednesday April 6 at 7pm, don’t miss your chance to participate in a tango workshop at The Charlotte Street Arts Centre as the dancers from Spotlight on Tango come together with their unique backgrounds and exceptional techniques to demonstrate the attractive and powerful characteristics of tango. This workshop explores the technical aspects of the dance with special emphasis on the basic elements: lead and follow weight changes, pivots, turns, etc. This class is for dancers who have taken at least one year of dance class.
