by on February 15, 2011

On Tuesday, February 22 at 8pm The Fredericton Playhouse presents a rare opportunity for patrons to enjoy the radiance of Canadian tenor Ben Heppner’s musical and vocal gifts. Heppner, who loves performing to intimate houses, has planned a repertoire for his Maritime tour that ranges from folk songs arranged by Benjamin Britten, to famed pieces by Tchaikovsky, Grieg, and Puccini.

Heppner is recognized worldwide as the finest dramatic tenor before the public today. He is acclaimed in music capitals around the world for his beautiful voice, intelligent musicianship, and sparkling dramatic sense. This Grammy Award winner and Juno Award recipient is setting new standards in his demanding repertoire. He excels in the most challenging roles, and has performed at famous venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonie and the Metropolitan Opera where, among other accomplishments, he appeared with James Levine for a performance of Tristan und Isolde, which was simulcast in movie theatres throughout North America and the United Kingdom. Having performed in some of the most prestigious recital venues around the world, he will surely present a breathtaking evening of vibrant passion.

The Fredericton Playhouse is also thrilled to announce that Heppner will be recording his recital for inclusion on a future CD release. The Playhouse is one of four venues chosen for the recording in Atlantic Canada–a once in a lifetime opportunity not to be missed!

Patrons are invited to join Heppner after the show on February 22 for the next installment of our In Conversation Series post-show talks at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.  Hosted by Christine McLean, Journalism and Communications faculty member at St. Thomas University, this forum gives fans the opportunity to talk with Heppner about his dramatic career, musical inspiration, awards, and accolades. Tickets for the post-show talk, available through the Fredericton Playhouse box office in limited number, are complimentary and include a free glass of wine.

Tickets for Ben Heppner are available at the Fredericton Playhouse box office 1-866-884-5800, or online at
