Soak up the sounds of the ’70s and ’80s with The Piano Men II

by on February 4, 2011

On Wednesday, February 16 at 8pm, The Fredericton Playhouse presents the second installment of Jim Witter’s hugely popular concert tour The Piano Men. Backed by a live band and led by award-winning recording artist Jim Witter, The Piano Men II takes you along a musical multimedia journey from the ‘70s into the ‘80s, through hit songs and unforgettable melodies, in a musical celebration of two of the century’s most popular and influential contemporary songwriters: Billy Joel and Elton John.

With all new visuals and songs, The Piano Men II is the perfect sequel to Witter’s first critically acclaimed show.  With the incredible timeless hits of Billy Joel and Elton John as the soundtrack, we are transported back to the ‘70s and ‘80s as news headlines, people, fashion, cars, TV, movies, and pop culture memorabilia are displayed on a giant rear screen.

An accomplished recording artist with three albums to his credit, Witter’s own music and song writing have been recognized on both sides of the border, earning him multiple awards and nominations from the Canadian Country Music Association, the Juno Awards, and most recently the Dove Awards in Nashville, where his album Forgiveness was nominated for Inspirational Album of the Year.

Witter’s personal memories and easy-going on stage presence only add to a remarkable evening of nostalgia.  His versatility as an artist has allowed him to reach out and share his music and his infectious personality with audiences of all ages. His rich, powerful voice and ease of manner at the piano make him a favourite with theatre goers everywhere.

“What a wonderfully fanciful flight back in time. Couple this with his marvellous voice and evocative piano technique, it’s little wonder this totally sold-out performance last week was a symbiotic love-in.”
