Playhouse Honours Call for Nominations

by on January 17, 2011

The Fredericton Playhouse is currently seeking nominees for the fourth annual Playhouse Honours distinction, which recognizes the contributions of individuals to the performing arts in Fredericton. Proposed honourees must be individuals (not companies or organizations) who are living. A one page narrative should be submitted along with the name and contact information of the nominator.

The purpose of the Playhouse Honours program is to foster a deeper appreciation of the value that individuals make to community life through their work in the performing arts (music, theatre, dance, spoken word, multidisciplinary arts). The honouree will be feted at a gala dinner on Saturday, May 7, 2011, benefiting the community outreach work of Fredericton Playhouse Inc., and will be recognized in a permanent display in the Playhouse facility.

Nominations should outline the individual’s personal contribution to the performing arts in the local community (Greater Fredericton). This contribution could be in the form of artistic excellence, inspiration, education, organization, contribution, facilitation, advocacy, collaboration, or achievement. Special attention should be given to any legacy left to the community as a result of this individual’s efforts and/or accomplishments.

A nominee may be a professional or amateur artist, administrator, volunteer, educator, philanthropist, advocate, organizer, etc. Nominees may also be submitted in consecutive years.

A selection committee (jury) comprised of members of the local arts community will review the submissions and recommend an honouree to the Fredericton Playhouse board of directors.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, January 28, 2010. Past recipients include Ilkay Silk (2008), Brent Staeben (2009), and Philip Sexsmith (2010).

Nominations may be sent to:
