Christmas @theplayhouse is proud to present Carol of the Bells, the latest edition of Fredericton’s favourite holiday show. With a host of colourful characters, vibrant musical numbers, and a talented ensemble of Fredericton-based performers and musicians, audiences will be taken on a journey of discovery where the true meaning of Christmas is found and celebrated.
Running December 16-19 at The Fredericton Playhouse, Carol of the Bells draws strongly on the theme of time, and has been adapted from one of the world’s most beloved Christmas classics. Filled with joy, laughter, redemption, and lots of music, it’s the perfect way to get your family into the Christmas spirit.
Directed by Tania Breen, and featuring original musical arrangements by award-winning composer/musician Michael Doherty, this new adaptation has something for everyone, both young and old. Says Breen, “We’ve assembled another incredibly talented group of performers this year and we’re really excited about the direction the show is taking. There is a heightened creative energy among the cast and everyone involved is really pleased to see it all come together.” Continues Breen, “Add to that the excitement of some new musical numbers that were written specifically for this show and it makes for one of the largest productions we’ve pulled off yet.”
Cast members have been hard at work in preparation for what has become a holiday tradition among local audiences. Christmas @theplayhouse has enjoyed a long tenure in the capital city as one of Fredericton’s favourite Christmas shows. This year marks the 9th edition of this holiday staple, and the creative team behind the production couldn’t be more thrilled. Tim Yerxa, Executive Director of The Fredericton Playhouse and producer for the show, explains that “what makes this production so popular is not only the incredible music and spectacle, but the home-grown talent it showcases– that community connection.”
