On Friday, November 5 at 8pm, The Fredericton Playhouse welcomes four of New Brunswick’s most talented, young musicians as they bring a fresh look to the stage and a new sound to the New Brunswick music scene.
New Brunswick has always been a hotbed of some of the most talented young musicians on Canada’s East Coast and the province’s music scene is constantly sprouting up fantastic new artists. Emerging NB musicians Andy Brown (Fredericton), Babette Hayward (Saint John), Lisa Leblanc (Rosaireville) and Owen Steel (St. Andrews) are being touted as the roots of a new generation of music here at home. All four of them are just starting their musical careers, releasing their debut recordings, and all four are certainly creating a big buzz provincially and nationally.
Of note to Fredericton audiences is local talent Andy Brown, who recently won the coveted title of 2010 CBC Galaxie Rising Star at the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival in September. Prior to that, Brown and his band won the North American-wide Test Drive 2010 competition, which gives them a one-year sponsorship from Taylor Guitars and Elixir Strings. As part of that prize, they are also headed to New York City to record in the same studio where Paul McCartney and Mariah Carey once recorded.
Tickets for NB Songwriters Showcase are on sale now. Call The Fredericton Playhouse box office at 1-866-884-5800, visit us in person, or online at www.theplayhouse.ca.
