SONIC CONCERTS presents: An Evening with Jill Barber and Michael Kaeshammer at the Fredericton Playhouse
Barber and her band are giving sneak previews of her new album, set for release in March 2011. It has been two years and over 100 shows since the release of her critically-acclaimed album Chances (Outside Music) which includes the hits “Never Quit Loving You” and “Oh My My.”
Exclaim! said, “…a fully realized tribute to vintage performance, anchored in the present by Barber’s heartfelt songwriting.”
The new album includes songs written during Barber’s second retreat to Banff as an artist-in-residence at The Banff Centre. While writing, she was joined by longtime band mate, guitarist and producer Les Cooper and violinist Drew Jurecka, who each wrote a handful of songs. The tour also coincides with the publication of Baby’s Lullaby (Nimbus Publishing), a board book written by Barber and based on her song for Read To Me, a Nova Scotia-based non-profit program that promotes early literacy.
Toronto-based piano virtuoso and vocalist, Kaeshammer’s much anticipated, currently untitled new album is due out November 2. The album is the follow up to his JUNO nominated sixth recording Lovelight, a collection of self-written songs, compelling musicianship and a captivating voice.
The Toronto Star said, “From the jaunty, jazz-styled title track to the pop ballad “Isabelle,” this is an upbeat, smile-inducing album that celebrates loving yourself and others.”
Kaeshammer performed in front of 60,000 people and millions on television during the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games in Vancouver earlier this year. Throughout the summer he had successful performances at summer jazz festivals in the U.S, a tour of German festivals and continued touring in Canada, all the while writing and recording his new album.
Barber and Kaeshammer’s national tour came together after sharing the stage last November at the prestigious Koerner Hall in Toronto.
