Calling all technicians, musicians, sound enthusiasts and more!
The Fredericton Playhouse is pleased to offer a 5-day sound workshop taught by audio consultant and systems technician Malcolm Boyce. Boyce is owner and operator of Middle Audio in Saint John, NB and has worked as the Head Sound Technician at Imperial Theatre since 1994. A well respected and knowledgeable technician, Boyce has taught many courses in audio and technical production and The Fredericton Playhouse is thrilled to be able to offer this workshop to interested participants in the community.
Focusing on class room style instruction and round table discussions, the entire workshop will be conducted onstage at the Fredericton Playhouse with a typical live working sound system so that participants can be shown and taught on the actual equipment. It will include a hands-on session at the end of the week with a live music demonstration.
Topics that you will learn about include: sound & basic acoustic principles; sound “lingo”; sound system components including: microphones, mixers, amplifiers, speakers, equalizers, effects processors crossovers and dynamic processors; how to build sound systems from the ground up; how to get the greatest quality sound from the resources at hand; and even some maintenance tips to keep your gear in performance condition.
